The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, with the support of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and in partnership with key stakeholders, has presented the national program “Journey to Yourself. Paths of Recovery.” The initiative aims to shape a new culture of domestic travel and position tourism as a tool for personal and national recovery.
The program is designed to introduce a new philosophy of travel that helps Ukrainians emotionally recharge and наполнити their отдых new meaning. “Journey to Yourself. Paths of Recovery” brings together туристичні дестинації, accommodation options, природні локації, experiences, and practices that help restore energy, reconnect with nature, and explore the culture, cuisine, and traditions of different regions.
As part of the initiative, GORO has joined the program as the General Mountain Partner. For the company, this partnership is a natural continuation of its strategic vision: GORO is being developed as a year-round mountain destination that balances active recreation with slower, mindful experiences — a place where visitors can recover physically and mentally throughout the year while also contributing to local community development.
“We are building not just a resort, but part of a broader ecosystem of the Slavske community as a modern туристична destination. This is where new recovery routes, quiet tourism locations, and experiences will emerge — helping people slow down and restore their energy,” said Volodymyr Harazd, CEO of GORO Mountain Resort.
As the General Mountain Partner, GORO represents the Carpathians as one of Ukraine’s key recovery destinations and will contribute to shaping the mountain segment of this new tourism model — through routes, experiences, practices, and locations that unlock the potential of the mountains for both physical and mental recovery.
According to the State Agency for Tourism Development, the program will also support local economies. Active domestic tourism is expected to foster community development, improve infrastructure, and create new financial opportunities for residents of smaller towns and villages.
“We propose to develop domestic tourism as a tool for improving both physical and mental well-being, creating a win-win scenario where citizens gain opportunities for recovery and communities benefit from economic growth driven by increased tourism demand,” said Nataliia Tabaka, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development.
The national program will integrate four key components: an online platform for creating personalized recovery routes based on individual needs, budget, duration, and region; a national network of verified locations and service providers operating within the recovery-focused philosophy; training programs for participants based on principles of sustainable and inclusive tourism; and a micro-grant competition alongside a nationwide communication campaign aimed at fostering a new culture of traveling across Ukraine as a way of self-care and recovery.
