GORO Mountain Resort in the Carpathians has launched an €11 million power supply projec
Jul 11, 2025

The all-season GORO Mountain Resort, located in the village of Volosyanka, Slavske community, Lviv region, is implementing a large-scale engineering and transport infrastructure project under the state program for supporting significant investments.

The construction of the power supply system is a testament to the resort’s unwavering commitment, outlined in trilateral agreements with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Slavske Village Council. These agreements, signed in June 2025, are a clear demonstration of the resort's dedication to the state program for supporting large investment projects.

The power supply system will consist of two phases with a total capacity of 17.7 MW and a length of 15 km, providing electricity for the future resort. The total investment for both phases is €11 million. The first phase, an overhead power line, is currently underway. It stretches 9 km and is valued at €5 million. As of July 10, 2025, 8 of the planned 53 poles have been installed.

“By the end of this year, we plan to complete the construction of the overhead section and then move on to the underground part. This is a crucial stage in building GORO Mountain Resort, as it lays the foundation for developing the entire infrastructure of the resort and the region. It is fundamentally important to us that the project is being implemented in partnership with the state, based on transparent and long-term commitments that open the door to large-scale investment in the Carpathians,”said GORO Mountain Resort CEO Volodymyr Garazd.

If all contract conditions are met, the state will reimburse the construction costs of the power infrastructure in the future. Overall, GORO Mountain Resort has committed to investing at least €140 million, according to a schedule agreed upon with the government.

The first phase of ski infrastructure is expected to launch in the 2026–2027 winter season, and the company is actively preparing all the necessary engineering systems. The opening of the 6,000 m² Welcome Centre — which will serve as the starting point for Ukraine’s first gondola lift — is also scheduled for this period.

The first phase comprises 10 ski runs with a total length of 13 km, 50 hectares of snowmaking, the country’s longest gondola lift (2.8 km), and two modern chairlifts (1.5 km each).

It also features nine hotels with over 1,100 rooms and well-developed recreational infrastructure, including spas, swimming pools, restaurants, children’s zones, and business spaces. Construction of the first hotel complex, ONDE Hotel, is already underway, with an opening planned for 2028. The hotel infrastructure is being developed by GORO Development, a company specialising in investment and real estate development.

On June 12, 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Slavsko Village Council, and private companies Slavs’ki LLC and Rozhanka Park LLC, which are responsible for building the ski and recreational infrastructure of GORO Mountain Resort, signed Special investment agreements in Lviv. According to them, the investor guarantees the creation of jobs with salaries exceeding the regional average in Lviv Oblast by over 40% (with a minimum contract requirement of at least 15% above the regional average). Upon completion, the tourism and recreation sector of the region is expected to directly or indirectly involve up to 25,000 professionals, providing a significant boost to the local economy and job market.

The total area of the GORO Mountain Resort project is nearly 1,200 hectares.
