‘FUEL FOR UKRAINE’ - OKKO BECAME A PARTNER OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM TO SATURATE THE UKRAINIAN MARKET WITH OIL PRODUCTS
Jun 29, 2022

OKKO network became the partner of the ‘Fuel for Ukraine’ international forum, which took place on June 28-29 in Warsaw, Poland. The main theme was necessary measures for the saturation and development of Ukrainian fuel market in conditions of Russian full-scale aggression. More than 230 delegates took part in this forum, representing 100 commercial organizations from 15 countries.

Vasily Danylyak, the First vice-president of OKKO company, reported how the company had adapted to work in the current extreme conditions. According to him, as of February 24th, the company had quite significant inventories of oil products and working capital, which helped to withstand the first blow and make emergency purchases of new fuel. The main difficulty was that before the war, OKKO imported the majority of fuel from Belarus and Lithuania. After February 24th, these routes were cut off and the company had to conclude urgent contracts with new partners. Thus, in peacetime this process could have taken from 1 to 3 years.

''Our today’s task is to supply oil products to Ukraine and to reduce the deficit. Therefore, we deliver fuel from wherever it is possible – from Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, from international hub ‘Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp’ etc.'', concluded Vasily Danylyak.

Speaking about the company's losses during the war, the Vice-president of the company noted that two oil depots were destroyed by shelling, about four dozen filling stations were currently located in the temporarily occupied territory or at combat areas. So, these filling stations were impossible to exploit. Meanwhile, all destroyed filling stations in Kyiv region have already been rebuilt, and launching of filling stations in Chernihiv region has been in the final stage.

Regarding the further functioning of Ukrainian fuel market, the majority of forum participants expressed restrained optimism, expecting increase of import volume from European countries. Serhii Kuyun, the Director of the ''A-95 CONSULTING GROUP'' (organizer of the forum) informed that Poland, Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria are today’s leaders in the fuel supply to Ukraine. "We are getting close to normalizing the market, but any break of any source will lead to huge problems", notedSerhii Kuyun.

The Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyridenko, in her address to the forum participants underlined the fact of fortunate establishment of products supply to the Ukrainian market and called it "One of the economic miracles of this spring".
